SRGM Samaroh, November 15, 2009

Dear  SRGM friends,

We are eagerly looking forward to the next Samaroh  to be held at our place on Sunday, Nov 15, 2009.

The Samaroh starts at 4pm and we would love for everyone to attend this Samaroh with your families.

The theme for the Samaroh is ‘Devi Gana Mahima’.  We will all be presenting group songs and individual songs on Goddess Mother –Durga, Parvathi, Lakshmi, Saraswathi, Lalitha, Amba  – we have a wide choice to select from .

May I request Ramya to be our MC for the Samaroh?  I hope you will agree to this, Ramya!

It would be awesome if all of us could email our individual songs to Ramya and Sunitha, so Ramya can plan her MC script, and Sunitha can give us her much appreciated gentle guidance in bringing finesse to our songs.

Here are the group songs we will be presenting after our customary opening prayer:

1. ‘Suklambaradharam Vishnum and Vakra tunda mahakaaya’:
2. Sharada Bhujangam
3. Sumanasa Vandita
4. Siva Sankari
5. Behag Tillana
6. we will conclude with ‘Santi Mantras’.

Please come prepared to present a Devi song – could be classical, semi-classical, a devotional movie song, or any of the songs we learnt in our SRGM class.

Another interesting option is to present a song on Lord Siva, since we are celebrating the month of Kartika,  and a song on Lord Siva or Goddess Mother would still qualify as they both are inseparable. It is believed that Goddess Parvati prayed to Lord Shiva to unite with Him and become a part of Him. As per her request Lord Siva became Ardha Nareeshwara.
